McCann Birmingham has been appointed as external creative agency partner for Admiral; the UK's specialist car, home, travel, pet and van insurance provider.
Following a competitive pitch process back in March of this year, the Midlands-based comms agency was officially awarded the account last week.
The appointment comes as Admiral seeks a replacement for its Russian Dolls creative, which has been running since 2010. The new TV-led campaign to be developed by McCann Birmingham is due to launch in early 2016.
Jon Marchant, Managing Partner at McCann Birmingham, comments: "As you can imagine, we are absolutely delighted with this win.
With all the well-documented negative pitch processes we have seen recently, it was refreshing to engage with a client team possessing such professionalism, and where genuinely original and clever creativity was the winner of the day."
Fanny Limare-Wolf, Deputy Marketing Director at Admiral, adds: "In the past we have largely handled our advertising creative in-house, but feel that now is the time to utilise the skills and experience of external practitioners to assist us in a brand new TV campaign.
We appointed McCann because they have demonstrated great creativity and understanding of our business during the pitch process. We are also delighted at how well they have connected with our internal Marketing team and look forward to a very exciting collaboration."
The insurer, which was set up in 1993, has only once before appointed a creative agency to oversee its TV advertising on a retained basis. PHD continues to handle Admiral's £10m media account.
This latest new client success adds to McCann Birmingham's already impressive and ever-increasing portfolio of national and international brands, including Vauxhall Motors, McCarthy and Stone, G-Tech and Cathay Pacific.
