McCann Scoops International Accolade

Our colleagues over at McCann Bristol have received a Silver Pencil at the prestigious One Show 2019 for its work with domestic violence charity, Refuge.

The One Show Pencil, which is recognised as one of the industry’s top accolades and a first for the agency, was awarded for its innovative reversible poetry campaign. In total, our team were finalists in five categories and received three merits.

Inspired by reversible poetry, the Refuge campaign features powerful reversible text that draws attention to issues connected to spousal violence and cleverly spins a loving tribute on its head to highlight controlling and violent behaviour.

The campaign was created by Zane Radcliffe and Ken Sara of McCann Bristol, with everyone involved in the campaign donating their services to Refuge free of charge.

Vince McSweeney, Chief Creative Officer at McCann Central said: “From the very start, everyone in the team was fully behind this campaign and what it needed to achieve, working incredibly hard to make it as impactful as possible. To then receive further recognition in this way is a fantastic outcome for all involved.

“Award wins such as these are a further endorsement of McCann Central as a major creative player on the national and international stage.”

“This result builds on the success of our previous international award wins, including Cannes Lions in 2017 and 2018 and we are delighted to have been recognised once more.”
