Dean Lovett selected to help supercharge the West Midlands’ screen industry

We are delighted to announce that our CEO, Dean Lovett, has been selected to join a taskforce launched by the Mayor of the West Midlands that will help to drive the growth of region’s screen industry.

Dean will sit alongside well-known names from the region’s creative industries including Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, Birmingham-born actor Adil Ray (alias Citizen Khan!) and Coventry’s Debbie Isitt, who created the Nativity film franchise. Members of the new body were selected by Mayor Andy Street, together with Deloitte’s Ed Shedd, and senior figures from the region’s three Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) and West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA). The first task over the coming weeks will be to get the new screen industry body up and running ahead of its official launch in October. Dean commented: “As a proud Brummie and someone that’s passionate about attracting and retaining the very best talent, I firmly believe we can make the region a hotbed for creativity and I’m delighted to have been selected to help shape and drive the agenda of this new dedicated body. “The potential growth for our industry within the region is significant but we must raise awareness of the world-leading expertise available in order to challenge perceptions and drive change.” Mayor of the West Midlands Andy Street said: “By launching this screen industry body and harnessing the talent of the brightest and best people within the industry, I believe we will be able to make sure our region’s screen sector fulfils its enormous potential.”
